So you think there's nothing more to improve in your golden retriever's house training? A closer review of the past days may remind you that your dog still has some points to improve on in its house training. Check out which of the following could help the most your dog.

1. Always use the same door when leaving to eliminate outdoors.

By having a routine when it is time to potty, the dog will also learn to stand by the door when it needs to go out.

2. Be on the lookout for signs that your dog wants to go.

Among the most common is of course, the dog walking on some spot in circles, while sniffing the floor. With that, immediately take the leash and put it on the dog, call out the potty-command cue for the dog to hear, and go outside.

3. Heap praises on the dog.

Praise the dog any time it eliminates outdoors. Always use a very happy and excited tone of voice. Keep a treat in handy when you want to reward the dog.

4. Stay and keep consistent.

Never allow one thing on one day, and let slip another thing the next day. This will end up confusing the dog.

5. Have a technique for teaching the dog to keep all areas of the house clean.

Dogs are usually very clean animals. Capitalize on this in order to teach the dog that it needs to keep the whole house clean. This can be done by feeding them in all areas of the house which the dog is allowed to inhabit. In the long run the dog will do its best not to mess up in these areas where it feeds.

6. When accompanying the dog to eliminate, never play.

Simply stand to the side, repeating the command for the dog to go, then praise it enthusiastically and vocally when it is successful.

Some Bonus Tips About Annoying Separation Anxiety

To train golden retriever to be free from separation anxiety, you need to mix up your leaving routine, so that the dog is not capable of anticipating your leaving, and linking that to a moment of loneliness. Try to vary also the stretches of time that you will be away, i.e. 3 minutes to 10 minutes, or sometimes going out just to go around the block, in order not to worry too much the dog.

Bonus Tips About Submissive Urination

If you are keen on the success of your dog's house training, you definitely need to know about submissive and excitement urination too. These two are purely involuntary, so skip scolding the dog when these happen. Events that can cause your dog to pee out of the blue are: eye contact, talking in a loud voice, verbal scolding, meeting with strangers, hovering over the dog, or reaching out to touch its head.

If the one into submissive urination is a dog with bad potty habits or one who has yet to be taught house breaking, give the dog about six to eight weeks, together with a tight house training plan, before its behavior turns for the better.

Lastly, in order to train golden retriever to have good potty manners, you will need to have lots of humor, patience, understanding, time and compassion. To give it also the benefit of a doubt, we can be sure the dog simply wants to do the right thing. So do what you can to help it make a successful adjustment.
