Before you head out and adopt that sweet little puppy, it's important that you get your Labrador Retriever information & facts straight. To start, it's good to know that the Labrador Retriever - or "labs" as they are commonly known - is the most popularly owned dog in the United States.
Labs are mid-sized dogs, usually in around fifty to seventy five pounds. There are several coat colors that you should know in your Labrador Retriever information & facts. These are black (known as Black Labs), Yellow (known as Yellow Labs), and brown (known as Chocolate Labs). The black and chocolate colors typically only occur in one shade each, however the yellow color can range from a nearly white color to what is known as fox red.
The historical side of Labrador Retriever information and facts is that they had initially been bread as hunting and fishing dogs. For this reason, they are designed to be excellent swimmers. Not only are they naturally skilled at swimming, but they also love doing it. They have webbed toes to give them an advantage in the water, and their coats are quite water resistant and are designed to help them stay warm when wet.
Even better in terms of a family pet is the friendliness and lovingness of Labs. They are happiest when they are around people and are great with children. That being said, they are best behaved when they have received the right amount of exercise, which should include at least two half hour walks every day, done at a good pace (not a stroll). Added play time will also make things more pleasant around the house in terms of minimizing mischief.
Among the Labrador Retriever information and facts you learn should be that Labs are great to train. They're fast learners and they are so eager to please that they rarely show stubbornness or resistance to obedience. Furthermore, they're rarely territorial (or at least overly so), destructive, or hyperactive. Don't tempt them in terms of chewing, though. They're still dogs and they need appropriate chew toys if you don't want them to satisfy their chewing needs on your furniture. They're a terrific all-around family member and companion and the obvious choice for many dog owners.

Its really nice to have dogs at home sometimes you feel more secured because you know that they are loyal and proctect you. Its funny because sometimes your dog knows more how you feel than anyone else.

Good hub! I love Labs.
I have a black english lab and love her she is 1 1/2 years old,but when left alone she goes nuts anything i can do?
Thanks jba2000_99@yahoo.com
i really love labs coz they are smart and love to play:-)
I am hooked on the love of the labrador retrievers. They are so smart and almost seem human at times. When I broke my collar bone, my lab would lay his head gently on my lap and just look at me as though he knew I was in pain. He fetchs my slippers and my shoes. Now that I am better he will carry the hose accross the yard for me and helps in the yard to pick up tree branchs. He loves to help carry any thing you are carrying including the grocery bags. He is 95 pounds. We have a childs large plastic swimming pool for him to cool off in during the summer months and after playing ball or walking.
Doggies are "CUTTIE PIES"
JB, have you crated her? My lab is a year old and I have to crate him when I'm gone. But he's to the point where, as long as the door is closed, he can sleep in our bedroom without any problems. Labs are intelligent, and after a while they figure out mess while mom and dad are gone=crate. It's conditioning at it's finest. Also, as mean as it may sound, giving your pup a little scare will keep them out of things they aren't supposed to be in. For example, if your pup is digging in the trash, drop something and make a loud noise while they're doing it. It'll take a couple times but they'll begin to associate noise I don't like with the trash and they'll leave it alone. We did this with our lab when he was getting into the kid's Lego box and it worked like a charm

I have 1 lab and she is a fantastic dog. The only thing that is a pain is her love of water. As we have a large and muddy pond, this does tend to mean a dirty, smelly dog much of the time. We are designing a new house and this incorporates an outside dog shower, just to clean the little darling before she gets in the house!
